High Value and Best Value Equipment Leasing

In March 2011, the National Audit Office published a report covering the management of high value medical equipment in the NHS in England. The report focused on three critical pieces of technology for diagnosis and treatment of cancer: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT) Scanners and Linear Accelerator (Linac) machines.

Historical spending, increased demand and the current financial pressures faced by NHS Trusts provided the basis for our team at Singers Healthcare Finance to offer their view on the report and, how leasing can help in the development of effective procurement strategies.

The Singers report can be read in the Sept/Oct edition of National Health Executive or here online.

Feature in the Health Service Journal

Singers Health Service Journal Article August 2011

Dwindling capital means leasing medical equipment may improve care quality and finances.

In August, Bob Dredge and Louise Hamilton of Singers Healthcare Finance answered this very issue, putting forward suggestions as to how the NHS could review its financial options in the current capital short environment.

Bob Dredge is an honorary senior fellow at the school of public policy, Keele University, and former programme manager for financial reforms at the Department of Health. We were delighted that Bob joined Singers Healthcare Finance to give an informed and impartial view which was published in the Health Service Journal (HSJ) as a special feature.

Read the feature online or in the August edition of the HSJ.

Louise Hamilton, Head of NHS Sales & Marketing at Singers Healthcare Finance responded to the National Audit Office report in an special feature for Health Business magazine. This objective report emphasises the need to look beyond traditional capital funding in procurement strategies and, the significant benefits that can be achieved by leasing high value, hi-tech equipment.
