Calvin O'Keeffe

Calvin O'Keeffe completes his London to South Africa bike ride

After seven months of living on two wheels, on Sunday the 18th of March Calvin O'Keeffe made it home to Durban, South Africa. Calvin Set off from England on the 27th of August and his incredible journey took him through 16 countries and covered 10,000 miles.

Despite constantly facing the elements and snapping his bike frame in a crash, perseverance prevailed, all in support of the Malaria Consortium.

Calvin is an inspiration to us, so we were delighted to sponsor him and lend a technical hand.

Supporting Headley Court this Christmas

Singers Asset Finance Headley Court Charity Christmas Card

Each year, we select a different charity to support when sending out our Christmas cards, which is always a challenge given so many worthy causes.

This year we are supporting Headley Court. Headley Court which is the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Unit (DMRC), provides clinical rehabilitation, training and personnel for the operational role and research in order to achieve optimal levels of health and fitness. Treatment of amputees and polytrauma patients are a major part of the facility, though the centre also helps patients suffering from post-traumatic stress.

The Office Xmas Whip-Round

dogs for the disabled

A bright spark in the office suggested that rather than send other members of staff Christmas cards, we should make a donation to charity for the amount we would spend on cards.

After a quick and complete consensus and an equally quick vote on which charity, Dogs for the Disabled were selected and a hard working hound is bound to benefit.

England to South Africa on a Bike

Calvin Rides Home

Calvin O'Keeffe - avid cyclist and brother of our Marketing Manager, Natalie, has been taking on the formidable task of cycling from London to his home town of Gillets in South Africa. That's correct - London to South Africa, or roughly 10,000 miles and 16 countries on a bicycle.

Calvin believes he'll arrive back in South Africa in 167 days, give or take a day or two we are told, all in aid of the Malaria Consortium. We are delighted to help support his cause and are touched by his sheer determination, considerable stamina and that he still manages to keep up to date a very spirited web journal.

Please do take a look at Calvin's web site that shows his progress throughout this incredible journey.

Glasgow Shine Walk

Cancer Research Sine Walk in Glasgow
Shine is Cancer Research UK’s night time walking marathon with events happening in major cities across the UK. Our good Glaswegian colleagues Isabel and Ann, not ones to be afraid of the dark, took up the challenge of the half marathon in Glasgow. Needless to say the walk was completed in the early hours and backed by contributions by staff and the Singers group helped support this ever essential cause.
